The Prime Minister has inaugurated the new terminal building at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati, developed at a cost of around INR 4,000 crore as part of a broader INR 5,000 crore airport expansion programme. Designed as a nature-themed terminal, the facility reflects Assam's biodiversity and cultural heritage, with extensive use of greenery and bamboo-inspired elements. Amber Enterprises has announced plans to invest INR 500 crore in setting up a new research and development centre in Rajpura, Punjab. The facility will focus on HVAC research and design and will be developed in two phases. Construction is expected to begin in January or February this year. In the first phase, around 500 engineers will be recruited. The underground section of Patna Metro's Blue Line, part of Corridor II, is making steady progress and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Stretching 7.9 km from Rajendra Nagar to Patna Junction, it will feature six underground stations. Four tunnel boring machines are actively working, with around 2 km of tunnelling remaining. Civil construction at the stations has reached about 40 percent. Indian Railways has expanded its digital and safety infrastructure by providing free WiFi at 6,117 stations nationwide, enabling passengers to access the internet through a simple mobile OTP verification. Nagpur's road between Zero Mile and Automotive Square will be redeveloped using high-quality cement concrete to ensure it remains pothole-free for at least 25 years. The Indore Metro project has revised its alignment, with the stretch between Khajrana Square and the airport now planned entirely underground. The total project cost has risen from INR7,500.80 crore to INR12,088 crore, with the state government covering around INR800-900 crore of additional underground construction expenses.
