The Bhubaneswar Development Authority has announced plans to develop Hatiasuni Park in Maitree Vihar into a modern green public space at an estimated cost of INR 1.36 crore. Spread across nearly two acres of vacant land, the park will feature walking tracks, seating areas, children's play zones and dedicated spaces for senior citizens. The design will include native plants, open lawns and eco-friendly landscaping to support recreation and environmental benefits. The project addresses long-standing demand for a community park in the residential area. Construction is expected to begin shortly and be completed within four months, adding a new recreational hub for local residents.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced plans to develop Hatiasuni Park in the Maitree Vihar residential area into a new green hub, aiming to provide residents with a modern, eco-friendly public space. The project will use about two acres of currently vacant land and is estimated to cost INR 1.36 crore. The development forms part of BDA's ongoing strategy to expand green areas across the city and promote accessible recreational facilities in residential neighbourhoods.
The park's design includes walking tracks, seating arrangements, children's play zones, and areas specifically for senior citizens. Officials highlighted that the layout will incorporate native plants, open lawns, and environmentally conscious landscaping to encourage outdoor activity and interaction among all age groups. By providing spaces for exercise, leisure, and social engagement, the park is expected to improve the overall quality of life for residents in Maitree Vihar and neighbouring localities.
Authorities pointed out that Maitree Vihar, despite rapid residential development, has lacked a proper community park. Residents have repeatedly requested recreational facilities to cater to families and older adults, and BDA has designed Hatiasuni Park in response to these needs. The horticulture department will ensure the park integrates greenery that not only beautifies the area but also contributes to environmental benefits, such as mitigating heat and improving air quality.
Construction of Hatiasuni Park is expected to begin soon, with completion anticipated within approximately four months from the start of work. Once finished, it will provide a valuable public amenity for both residents and visitors, fostering interaction and outdoor engagement.
