Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), India's largest container port, is set to be connected to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) by the end of March 2026. City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has achieved its first-ever tunnel breakthrough in the Hetawane Water Supply Scheme at Shaft 4 in Wahal village, Navi Mumbai. Executed by Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, 5.52 km of the 8.7 km treated water tunnel under Package 1 is completed, overcoming geological and operational challenges. The scheme, including 13.25 km of raw water and 15.4 km of treated water tunnels, aims to raise the city's water capacity from 150 million litres per day (MLD) to 270 MLD.
