Key locations included Jewel of Navi Mumbai, Chincholi Lake in Jui Nagar and the Mini Sea Shore area in Vashi. Collected waste was transported for scientific processing to the municipal solid waste facility at Turbhe.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has undertaken a series of large-scale cleanliness drives across the city under the 'Clean water, clean mind' campaign, emphasising public participation as a core element of sanitation and environmental management. The initiative was carried out earlier this week on a public holiday as part of the Amrut project, in collaboration with Sant Nirankari Mission.
Municipal officials stated that the campaign focused on cleaning areas surrounding water bodies and prominent public spaces, with participation from civic officers, employees, sanitation workers and a large number of volunteers from the Sant Nirankari Mission. The objective was to reinforce the message that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and requires sustained community involvement.
One of the key drives was conducted at Jewel of Navi Mumbai, a prominent recreational and tourist destination in the city. A special cleanliness operation was carried out around the reservoir area, involving senior officials from the municipal engineering and solid waste management departments, sanitation officers, inspectors and sanitation staff. More than 250 volunteers from the Sant Nirankari Mission participated in the drive, jointly undertaking an extensive cleaning of the reservoir surroundings.
A similar cleanliness campaign was organised at Chincholi Lake in Jui Nagar, with support from office-bearers and members of the Sant Nirankari Mission's Nerul division. Municipal officials from the solid waste management department, the Nerul ward office and the sanitation department participated alongside around 175 volunteers, who actively contributed to cleaning activities in and around the lake precinct.
In Vashi, a separate drive was carried out at the Mini Sea Shore area in sectors 9 and 10. More than 150 members of the Sant Nirankari Mission joined municipal officers and employees in clearing waste and cleaning the coastal stretch. Civic officials confirmed that waste collected from all locations was transported through dedicated vehicles to the municipal solid waste management facility at Turbhe for further processing.
In addition to these activities, the municipal corporation also undertook special intensive cleanliness drives under the 'Hind Di Chadar' programme. As part of this initiative, sanitation workers conducted thorough cleaning operations around all seven gurdwaras within the municipal limits earlier this week, with participation from members of the respective gurdwara committees.
