The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is progressing towards its mid-May commercial launch, marked by the release of the Aeronautical Information Publication Supplement (AIPS) by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The AIPS has identified approximately 225 obstacles around the airport, and these are being looked into. Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo are preparing to initiate services at NMIA, with phased transitions planned to ensure a smooth shift of domestic operations. Developed jointly by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), NMIA aims to alleviate congestion at Mumbai's current international airport CSMIA. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has announced that residential apartment complexes can now be connected to Metro stations via skywalks to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce traffic congestion. Several skywalks already exist, linking Metro stations to malls and business hubs. New projects will connect Dr. Ambedkar Balanagar Metro station to Phoenix Mall and LB Nagar station to Vasavi Anandanilayam. Discussions are ongoing for additional skywalks at Nagole, Durgam Cheruvu, and Kukatpally. Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis recently reviewed the ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), amounting to INR 2 lakh crore. The Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, a 62.7 km, six-lane access-controlled highway, aims to enhance connectivity between Lucknow and Kanpur, cutting travel time to 35-45 minutes from the current 1.5-3 hours. This directive, based on the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance, and Redevelopment) Act, 1971, aims to ensure joint ownership of homes allotted under the scheme, benefiting numerous slum dwellers. The circular highlights the importance of joint property registration to safeguard women's rights, especially in cases of marital disputes or the demise of a spouse. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Metro Line 3, which connects Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar, is now slated to begin operations by the end of the year. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made significant progress in infrastructure development, awarding 1,104 km of national highways and constructing 1,147 km in January 2025. Total fiscal year figures stand at 4,204 km awarded and 7,000 km built. The Ministry has spent INR 2,30,298 crore on road projects and launched a vehicle scrappage initiative, scrapping 108,583 vehicles. It has also installed 28 EV charging stations along highways. To streamline approvals for Road Over Bridges (ROB), a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is being developed.
