NHAI moves ahead with second phase of Prayagraj Inner Ring Road to enhance connectivity

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is advancing the second phase of the four-lane Prayagraj Inner Ring Road, following approval of the preliminary Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Covering 41.662 km from Madhopur near NH19 in Soraon tehsil to Amiliya in Karchana tehsil, the project will pass through 41 villages. Key elements include a 3.5 km bridge over the Ganga, a 1.2 km bridge over the Yamuna, four flyovers, three railway overbridges, and 120 small culverts. VOC Port cargo handling rises 6% in FY26, sets record in January

Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) in Tuticorin has reported a 6 per cent year-to-date increase in overall cargo handling for the current financial year, driven by robust growth in container, liquid and dry bulk segments. The port handled a record volume in January, with total cargo throughput and container traffic both posting all-time highs. Container handling in particular set new monthly records, supported by strong export and import shipments, improved terminal productivity and enhanced rail and road connectivity. The rise in liquid bulk handling was attributed to increased movement of petroleum and chemical products. Port officials said the performance underscores VOC Port's growing significance as a major gateway on India's southern east coast, supported by infrastructure upgrades and strategic hinterland linkages.Read more

Acting under the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department carried out removal action on multiple illegal structures after the concerned parties failed to comply with notices issued under provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act. The drive covered residential and temporary structures across Belapur village, CBD Belapur and adjoining areas.
