Most road construction projects in India are ignoring basic work zone safety norms, leading to a rise in fatal crashes, warns the India Chapter of the International Road Federation (IRF-IC). President Akhilesh Srivastava highlighted the absence of warning signs, reflective tapes, barricades, flagmen, and proper lighting at many sites, citing a deadly crash on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway as a recent example. The IRF-IC has urged the NHAI, state PWDs, and contractors to enforce mandatory compliance with Indian Road Congress (IRC) guidelines, specifically IRC:SP:55-2014. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has scrapped its proposal to convert a portion of the cycling track near Priyadarshani Garden in Sion, Mumbai, into a parking lot. Jakson Green, a green energy transition platform, has signed its first wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 100 megawatt (MW) project in Gujarat. The 25-year agreement, secured through its subsidiary JGRJ Three Solar Private Ltd, sets a tariff of INR 3.59 per unit. This project is expected to generate over 300 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, offsetting approximately 250,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Juniper Green Energy has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 100 megawatt (MW) wind power project in Gujarat. The agreement, executed through its subsidiary Juniper Green Bess Two Pvt Ltd, was finalized on July 18. This project is scheduled to begin supplying power from July 2027. Avaada Group has entered into a partnership with the Bihar government to develop renewable energy infrastructure totalling 1 GW capacity across the state, with an investment of approximately INR 5,000 crore. The agreement is expected to generate 500 direct employment opportunities. Parliament was informed that 489 road projects originally due by March 2025 are facing delays due to land acquisition, forest clearances, and railway approvals. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated the government is coordinating with state authorities to address these issues. Many projects have also seen cost overruns caused by higher land compensation, GST, public-demanded infrastructure additions, and design changes to meet railway standards. In cases of prolonged delays, contracts may be terminated and re-awarded. Gadkari also confirmed national highways are built per Indian Road Congress (IRC) standards, with design speeds of up to 120 km/h for expressways and 100 km/h for highways.Read more

Aaiji Group has secured regulatory approval from the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for a residential plotting project in the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). The approval, valid until 2029, allows Aaiji Infraspace to develop residential plots across a 10,809 sq metre land parcel. The project is expected to benefit from large-scale infrastructure developments in Dholera, including the upcoming international cargo airport and the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway.
