Synopsis

Jakson Green, a green energy transition platform, has signed its first wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 100 megawatt (MW) project in Gujarat. The 25-year agreement, secured through its subsidiary JGRJ Three Solar Private Ltd, sets a tariff of INR 3.59 per unit. This project is expected to generate over 300 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, offsetting approximately 250,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. This marks Jakson Green's entry into utility-scale wind energy, diversifying its portfolio and aiming to accelerate India's transition to a sustainable energy future by tapping into the nation's vast wind energy potential.

Jakson Green, a green energy transition platform, today announced that its subsidiary, JGRJ Three Solar Private Ltd, has signed its first wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) for a 100 megawatt (MW) project.

The two companies have signed a 25-year PPA at a tariff of INR 3.59 per unit. This agreement was secured under GUVNL's Wind Tender (Phase VIII), a company statement said. This 100-MW Gujarat-based project is expected to deliver over 300 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy annually, which will help offset about 250,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year. The energy generated from this power project will be bought by GUVNL.

Kannan Krishnan, Managing Director of Jakson Green, stated that their first wind power PPA with GUVNL marked their entry into utility-scale wind energy. He added that this was a natural progression for Jakson Green, building on its solar and hybrid portfolio, and showed their commitment to offering more green energy solutions and speeding up India's move towards a sustainable future. The project is expected to become operational within 24 months.

Krishnan Rajagopalan, Head - IPP at Jakson Green, further noted that India has a large wind energy potential, estimated at over 695 GW, which makes the country one of the global leaders in installed wind capacity. He added that this vast resource, especially in states like Gujarat, offers a viable way to achieve a sustainable energy future for the nation, and the company is committed to helping harness it.

Jakson Green is a green energy transition platform that provides engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) services, for renewables and green molecule projects. It operates in both domestic and international markets and is supported by the Jakson Group.
