Avaada Group recently announced that it had signed an agreement with the Bihar government to establish renewable energy capacity of 1 GW across the state. The proposed project involves an investment of INR 5,000 crore and includes a combination of ground-mounted, floating, and community solar installations, along with battery energy storage systems.
The agreement was formalised between the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) and Avaada Energy's Chief Executive Officer, Kishor Nair. The signing took place in the presence of Bihar's Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Industries Minister Nitish Mishra.
According to a statement issued by the company, the development is projected to create 500 direct employment opportunities within the state. The energy production under this initiative is expected to commence within two years, contingent upon the successful execution of power purchase agreements and the allocation of land or water bodies by the state government.
With a strong investment commitment and the promise of job creation, the initiative aligns with national sustainability goals and highlights Bihar's emerging role in India's clean energy landscape. The timely allocation of land and regulatory clearances will be crucial for ensuring that energy production begins as projected within the two-year timeframe.
