Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited (CMAML), a joint venture between Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, has been commissioned to prepare a detailed feasibility report (DFR) for a high-altitude cable-propelled ropeway transport system in Udhagamandalam (Ooty), officials said in a press release. The study, to be carried out by consultants Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, and Switzerland-based Outdoor Engineers AG, has a contract value of about INR 96.63 lakh and is expected to take 120 days to complete. The assessment will cover technical feasibility, route alignment, potential ridership, and environmental and social impacts, as well as traffic-management proposals for the hill station.
