The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) will raise up to INR 3,000 crore through non-convertible debentures (NCDs) via private placement, as part of its plan to mobilize INR 65,000 crore in FY 2025-26. Backed by strong Q1 FY26 results, HUDCO reported a 13% rise in consolidated net profit to INR 630.23 crore and a 34% jump in total income to INR 2,945.47 crore. Loan sanctions more than doubled to INR 34,224 crore, with disbursements hitting a record INR 12,812 crore. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is preparing to start operations early next month, marking the official replacement of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Bengaluru will be divided into five municipal corporations East, West, North, South, and Central with offices assigned from existing government properties. BBMP headquarters will become the Chief Minister's office as GBA Chairperson, and the Urban Development Minister will operate from the former Deputy Mayor's office. Reliance Infrastructure has finalised the monetisation of its Pune-Satara Toll Road project by transferring full ownership of PS Toll Road Pvt Ltd to Singapore-based Cube Highways and Infrastructure III. The agreement is valued at an enterprise value of around INR 2,000 crore. Reliance Infra will receive equity proceeds of INR 600 crore and reduce consolidated debt by INR 1,400 crore through the transaction. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) recently carried out demolition drives in Airoli and Koparkhairane against unauthorized constructions that continued despite prior notices. Acting under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, the Encroachment Department removed illegal structures, imposed fines, and deployed manpower and equipment for the operations. The drives were conducted under the supervision of senior officials, with support from the local police. The Trichy Corporation has launched a INR 2 crore project to upgrade 3,250 streetlights from 20-watt to 40-watt LEDs across residential areas, following complaints about poor visibility and safety concerns. Around 650 lights will be replaced in each of the city's five zones, with work to be completed in phases over the coming months. The 20-watt LEDs, installed in 2018 during the city's shift from sodium and fluorescent lamps, are now inadequate due to urban growth and rising traffic. Each ward will get 50 brighter lights, prioritizing junctions and busy streets, while 20-watt LEDs will remain on narrower roads to balance costs.Read more

Severe flooding on a 1.5-km stretch of railway track in Vasai, which disrupted train services on the Virar-Churchgate route, was caused by rampant and unplanned construction in the Vasai-Virar area, according to the Western Railway (WR). The construction on salt pan lands, mangroves, and waterholes, along with choked culverts, has led to rainwater and water from the Pelhar dam overflowing onto the tracks. Despite similar flooding in 2018 and a subsequent report from NEERI and IIT-Bombay, the recommended solutions have not been implemented by the authorities, leading to repeated disruptions.Read more

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation's Environmental Laboratory, certified under ISO 9001:2015, has introduced a new digital monitoring system for water quality testing. The 'e-System Water Sample Inspection Report and Monitoring System' (WQMS) was launched by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde earlier this week. The laboratory already tests drinking water, wastewater, and private samples, and with this system the entire process from collection to reporting has become digital and transparent. The Commissioner also advised seeking NABL accreditation and expanding testing to cover food vendors. India's eight core infrastructure sectors witnessed a sharp slowdown in growth, expanding only 2% in July 2025, compared to 6.3% in the same month a year ago. The latest government data showed that production was weighed down by declines in key segments such as coal, crude oil, natural gas, and refinery products. In June 2025, the sectors had reported a 2.2% growth rate. Cube Highways Trust, managed by Cube Highways Fund Advisors Pvt. Ltd., has completed a bond issue worth INR 820 crore through privately placed non-convertible debentures. The issue was split into two tenors, with bonds maturing in about three and a half years at a coupon of 6.93% and in ten years at 7.3015%. With this, fixed-rate borrowings now account for over 33% of the trust's obligations. The proceeds will mainly go towards repayment of existing borrowings. Backed by a strong investor base, the issue has received AAA/Stable ratings from leading credit rating agencies.Read more
