The Ministry of Finance has prepared a public-private partnership infrastructure pipeline worth around INR 17 lakh crore for the next three financial years up to FY27-28. The pipeline includes 852 projects identified by central ministries as well as states and Union territories. The move follows the Union Budget announcement aimed at improving private sector participation in infrastructure. Varanasi International Airport is set to host India's first tunnel running beneath an active runway, part of a project costing INR 250 crore. Spanning nearly 450 metres, the tunnel will allow National Highway 31 traffic to flow below while aircraft operate above, minimizing disruption. Designed with blast-resistant safety measures, the underpass also facilitates plans to extend the airport runway to accommodate larger aircraft like Boeing 777s. Following the recent civic elections in Mumbai, a major section of Veera Desai Road in Andheri West will be closed to regular traffic to allow demolition and reconstruction of a worn-out bridge over Mogra Nala at Dhake Colony. The National Highways Authority of India has achieved two Guinness World Records during construction of the Bengaluru Kadapa Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh. The records were set for laying 28.95 lane-kilometres of bituminous concrete and placing 10,675 metric tonnes of the material continuously within 24 hours. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin is set to lay the foundation for a major redevelopment of the Broadway bus stand in Chennai under the North Chennai Development Scheme. The INR 800 crore project will replace the 75 year old facility with a modern multi modal transport hub featuring 73 bus bays capable of handling about 466 bus movements per hour. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd has secured approval to invest INR 6,675 crore in a 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The project, cleared by the State Investment Promotion Board, will be the largest of its kind in India and will be developed at the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone on 200 acres of land. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 424 stretches of highways and expressways, covering approximately 1,750 km, with weak or no mobile network coverage.
