Indian Railways is set to operate the Nagercoil Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express via Thiruvananthapuram, strengthening coastal connectivity between Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The weekly overnight service will connect major cities including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur before reaching Mangaluru. Designed with modern Amrit Bharat Express rakes and non-AC coaches, the service aims to provide a comfortable and practical travel option while easing congestion on existing trains. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has updated the Central Motor Vehicles Rules to ensure all pending National Highway user fees are cleared before key vehicle services are granted. Under the amended rules, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for transferring vehicle ownership or relocating a vehicle to another state will be issued only after all unpaid toll and highway user fees are settled. The rules also prevent renewal or issuance of fitness certificates and national permits if dues exist.
