Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group unveiled a green hydrogen facility in Gorakhpur earlier this week, marking Uttar Pradesh's first and India's second such project. The plant, developed jointly by Torrent Power and Torrent Gas, produces 72 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which is blended at up to 2 percent with natural gas and distributed via existing pipelines to homes, CNG stations, and industries. Nabha Power Limited's Rajpura thermal power plant has been named the country's best-performing supercritical coal-based thermal power plant for emission intensity. The redevelopment of Thane and Kalyan railway stations has been postponed by the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA). The promenade section of the Mumbai Coastal Road project will open to the public on Independence Day August 15, 2025. A CAG performance audit tabled in the Goa Legislature has exposed major lapses in the welfare of construction workers. Over 798 interstate labourers were unregistered, missing out on benefits, while poor data sharing weakened oversight. Village panchayats failed to collect a 1% cess, losing INR 3.8 crore, and builders withheld INR 5.2 crore. Administrative costs soared beyond the 5% cap, and funds lay idle in low-interest accounts. Unqualified people were wrongly registered for COVID-19 benefits, and site inspections were irregular, with safety gear and facilities often missing.
