Titagarh Rail partners with ABB India to develop driverless metro propulsion systems

Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd has partnered with ABB India to develop propulsion systems and enable technology transfer for 25 kV driverless metro projects. The agreement covers design, manufacturing, supply, testing, installation supervision, and TCMS technology transfer. TRSL will also gradually co-produce converters and traction motors. Building on a prior alliance with ABB, this collaboration strengthens India's metro TCMS capabilities for both 750 V and 25 kV systems. TRSL's Uttarpara facility is set to become a major manufacturing hub for metro and high-speed trains, supporting India's Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.Read more

NTPC Green Energy to operationalise part of Khavda-I solar project in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, will commence commercial electricity supply from 130.47 MW of its 1,255 MW Khavda-I solar project in Gujarat. This capacity represents the tenth phase of the project and will be operational from January 29, 2026. With this addition, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group will increase from 8,347.78 MW to 8,478.25 MW. The Khavda-I project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II, Tranche III, and is fully owned by NTPC Green Energy.Read more

IndiGo CEO says short disruption phase does not define airline’s two-decade record

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said a three-day period of operational disruption should not define the airline's 20-year journey in India. He admitted passengers were let down in early December, when over 2,500 flights were cancelled and nearly 1,900 were delayed, affecting more than 3 lakh travellers. The DGCA cut IndiGo's winter schedule by 10 per cent until February 10, imposed fines of INR 22.20 crore, and sought a INR 50 crore bank guarantee. Chennai Metro arm to prepare feasibility report for ropeway transport in Udhagamandalam

Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited (CMAML), a joint venture between Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, has been commissioned to prepare a detailed feasibility report (DFR) for a high-altitude cable-propelled ropeway transport system in Udhagamandalam (Ooty), officials said in a press release. The study, to be carried out by consultants Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, and Switzerland-based Outdoor Engineers AG, has a contract value of about INR 96.63 lakh and is expected to take 120 days to complete. The assessment will cover technical feasibility, route alignment, potential ridership, and environmental and social impacts, as well as traffic-management proposals for the hill station. The initiative aims to evaluate ropeway transport as a sustainable, efficient and eco-friendly solution to improve mobility in the ecologically sensitive and tourism-oriented region.Read more
