GCCs likely to account for up to half of India’s office space demand as trade agreements reshape occupier mix: Colliers India

21 Feb 2026

Colliers India expects global capability centres (GCCs) to drive as much as 40-50% of India's Grade A office space demand across the top seven cities over the next few years, supported by strong economic growth and improving global trade linkages. US-headquartered firms continue to dominate GCC leasing, accounting for nearly 70% of space taken up since 2020, although demand from the UK and European Union is projected to rise steadily. According to the consultancy, annual GCC leasing could scale up to 35-40 million sq ft as trade agreements with the US, EU and UK reduce market entry barriers and encourage multinational firms to expand India operations across technology, BFSI, engineering and consulting. This shift is expected to further entrench GCCs as a core driver of India's office market.Read more

Governance models key to long-term success of Global Capability Centres

21 Feb 2026

As Global Capability Centres (GCCs) evolve from cost-arbitrage units to strategic enterprise partners, governance models are emerging as critical enablers of sustained success. Industry leaders say governance should function not as a control mechanism but as a clarity-driven framework aligning global strategy with local execution. Clear decision rights, accountability structures and transparent performance forums help bridge the gap between headquarters intent and operational delivery. According to Alouk Kumar, CEO and MD of Inductus Group, effective governance synchronises intent and delivery while fostering trust between global and local teams. As GCCs expand into innovation, digital transformation and risk management, governance must evolve from activity-based oversight to outcome-oriented stewardship, supporting agility, talent retention and long-term enterprise value creation.Read more

Goa completes 25 % of land records update amid public concerns over accuracy and ownership

20 Feb 2026

The Goa state government has completed roughly 25 % of its ongoing land records update and digitisation initiative, an effort designed to modernise and improve the accuracy of land ownership documentation across the state, officials said this week. The programme involves updating physical land records, issuing urban property cards and integrating ownership data into digital systems, which authorities say will reduce disputes, increase transparency and streamline access to information for both government and the public. The initiative part of a broader land records modernisation drive supported by advanced survey techniques has faced public concerns about possible land mergers and the risk of property confiscation, prompting authorities to address issues and emphasise protections. While significant progress has been reported, a majority of the work remains to be completed.Read more

Limited BEST bus routes on Mumbai coastal road draw commuter criticism

The Mumbai coastal road, built to ease congestion and cut travel time, is facing criticism due to limited public transport usage. Despite having a dedicated BEST bus lane, only two bus routes currently operate on the corridor with low frequency. Transport experts and citizens believe the infrastructure is underused and stress that higher bus frequency is essential for the project to deliver wider public value.Read more
