Mahanagar Gas Ltd has outlined a capital expenditure plan of around INR 1,200-1,300 crore for the next financial year, broadly in line with current spending levels. The Union government has approved 100 electric buses for Belagavi city under the PM-e Bus Sewa scheme, Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi said during the recent budget session of Parliament. The sanction is part of a wider allocation that includes 750 electric buses for ten cities in neighbouring Karnataka. Along with the buses, the Centre has also approved infrastructure support, including a control room, charging points, depot facilities and related technical systems, with around INR 6.8 crore earmarked for these civil works. The Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro is set to become the longest corridor in the network after planned extensions under Phase IV and Phase V (A). Once completed, the corridor will span about 89 kilometres with 65 stations, including 21 interchange points, the highest for any single line. Patel Engineering Ltd has completed tunnelling work under Package II of the CIDCO Treated Water Tunnel Project in Maharashtra four months ahead of schedule. The 6.27-km package, part of the overall 28.2-km tunnel project awarded by City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO) for INR 520 crore in June 2023, was executed in 14 months against the contracted 19 months. The company achieved a national benchmark by tunnelling 812.466 metres in January using a 3.2-metre diameter Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved national highway projects worth over INR 11,000 crore across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said. The projects include upgrading a 154.6-km stretch of NH-160A in Maharashtra at INR 3,320.38 crore under EPC mode, construction of 4-lane sections of NH-56 in Gujarat at INR 4,583.64 crore, and widening of NH-167 in Telangana at INR 3,175.08 crore under hybrid annuity mode. The Maharashtra project aligns with PM GatiShakti principles and will connect multiple economic and logistics nodes, while the Gujarat stretch is expected to reduce travel time by 40 per cent. RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has won a INR 455 crore contract from the Ministry of Railways to deploy the Kavach automatic train protection system over 1,067 route kilometres in the Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway. The project covers high-density corridors, including Itarsi-Manikpur, Satna-Rewa, the Katni complex, and other sections. Scope includes design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, optical fibre works, towers, and related civil, track, and electrical work under an EPC model, to be completed within 960 days. India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued 352 show-cause notices to scheduled commercial airlines over the last two years for various regulatory violations. The data was shared by the civil aviation ministry in Parliament. IndiGo received the highest number of notices, followed by Air India and Air India Express. Of the total notices issued, penalties were imposed in 139 cases, while 113 resulted in warnings. The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) had formally regularised 31 residential colonies in Jammu based on a series of government orders issued between 1974 and 2009, alongside judicial directions from 2010. However, the High Court recently stayed the regularisation process. The Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister clarified that future residential colonies will only be developed after proper land allotment, either through self-financing or Public-Private Partnership models with statutory board approvals. The Janipur Housing Colony did not require regularisation as its plots were legally allotted during its early 1970s establishment. The government also acted against unauthorised residential-to-commercial conversions in the city.Read more
