Synopsis

The Odisha government has unveiled 36 industrial projects involving an investment of INR 40,811 crore, expected to create around 59,000 jobs across the state. The initiatives include both inaugurated units and newly laid foundation stones, covering sectors such as green energy equipment, metals, textiles, plastics, tourism, agriculture, food processing, defence manufacturing, IT, automobiles, and cement. The state leadership highlighted sustained industrial momentum over the past 18-20 months, driven by multiple project launches and investments aimed at strengthening Odisha's manufacturing and employment base.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled 36 industrial projects with a total investment of INR 40,811 crore, aimed at generating nearly 59,000 employment opportunities across different regions of the state.

The projects consist of a combination of operational inaugurations and new foundation stone layings, indicating both completed industrial units and upcoming developments. According to officials, 11 projects have been inaugurated while 25 projects have been initiated for future execution.

The industrial push covers a wide range of sectors including green energy equipment manufacturing, metal and downstream industries, textiles and apparel production, plastics, tourism-related infrastructure, agriculture and food processing, defence manufacturing, information technology services, automobiles, and cement production. The diversified sectoral spread is expected to strengthen Odisha's industrial ecosystem and reduce dependence on a limited set of industries.

The Chief Minister, during interactions with industry representatives, assured administrative support for smooth project execution. This includes facilitation in land allocation, power supply, water availability, infrastructure connectivity, and faster regulatory clearances. It was also conveyed that a dedicated mechanism has been strengthened to address industry-related concerns through the Chief Minister's Office for quicker resolution.

Industry stakeholders were encouraged to expand their existing operations in Odisha and contribute to building supporting ecosystems for small and medium enterprises linked to large industries. Officials noted that such expansion is likely to generate additional indirect employment alongside direct job creation from the announced projects.

State authorities further pointed out that in the past 18-20 months, Odisha has seen consistent industrial activity with multiple projects being inaugurated and launched across different districts. This steady flow of investments has contributed to capital inflows and employment generation across manufacturing and allied sectors.

The government also stated that the current industrial initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Odisha's position as a growing industrial hub, with a focus on long-term industrial development, diversification, and improved ease of doing business.
