The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has announced the rollout of its online property tax collection system starting April 13, aimed at making tax payments more accessible and reducing reliance on physical counters. The system will allow residents across different wards to pay property tax digitally through the official municipal platform using their assessment details. Offline payment facilities will be introduced in a phased manner in select wards shortly after the online launch. Demand notices for the current financial year are expected to be made available around the same period to support smooth tax processing.
The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has introduced an online property tax collection system that will become operational from April 13, marking a step towards expanding digital governance in civic services. The initiative is intended to make property tax payments more convenient for residents and improve efficiency in revenue collection processes.
Under this system, taxpayers will be able to complete their payments online through the municipal portal by entering their property or assessment details. The facility will be applicable across all wards under the municipal jurisdiction, enabling residents to access and clear their dues without visiting physical offices.
Alongside the digital option, the civic body has planned a phased rollout of offline payment arrangements in selected ward areas. In these wards, residents will be able to pay property tax through designated bank branches and municipal collection counters after the initial online phase begins. The offline counters are scheduled to operate during fixed hours, ensuring structured access for those who prefer or require in-person transactions.
The municipal administration has also indicated that property tax demand notices for the current financial year will be generated and made available around the same time as the system launch. These notices will allow residents to review their outstanding dues and verify assessment details before making payments through either mode.
The corporation has been gradually strengthening its digital infrastructure over the past few years, focusing on improving transparency, reducing manual processing delays, and ensuring faster service delivery. This rollout is part of that broader administrative shift towards integrating technology into routine civic operations.
The transition to an online-first system is also expected to reduce congestion at municipal offices and improve compliance by offering residents multiple, structured payment options. However, the phased approach for offline access ensures that citizens who are not comfortable with digital systems are not excluded during the transition period.
