The company plans to hire around 2,000 professionals across both cities as part of a phased scale-up. With more than 1,100 employees already on board, AMGBT is positioned as a long-term operational hub, leveraging India's skilled talent base to drive standardisation, efficiency and technology-led transformation across ArcelorMittal's global businesses.
ArcelorMittal has formally established its new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in Hyderabad and Pune, marking a strategic expansion of its global technology and business services footprint in India. Operating under the name ArcelorMittal Global Business & Technologies (AMGBT), the centres are intended to function as integrated hubs supporting the company's worldwide operations, particularly across Europe.
The GCCs will house a broad spectrum of enterprise functions, including digital technology, IT infrastructure, data and analytics, cyber security, finance and accounting, procurement, human resources, project management and other global business services. By centralising these capabilities, the company aims to drive greater operational efficiency, improve process standardisation and deploy scalable digital platforms across its international operations.
According to the company, AMGBT has been structured to play a long-term role in ArcelorMittal's enterprise transformation agenda. The centres are expected to deliver advanced analytics, technology-led innovation and cross-functional support to multiple business units globally, while benefiting from India's deep pool of engineering, technology and management talent.
The launch of the GCCs was conducted digitally by senior members of ArcelorMittal's global leadership, who highlighted the growing importance of technology, continuous learning and workforce agility in supporting the future of large industrial organisations. Company executives also underlined the importance of creating a secure and digitally resilient workplace, supported by strong governance and a collaborative organisational culture.
From a people and talent perspective, AMGBT plans to expand its workforce to around 2,000 professionals across Hyderabad and Pune, with roles spanning digital technology, data science, cyber security and global business services. The organisation has already crossed the 1,100-employee mark, indicating that the scale-up process is well underway.
The physical workspaces in both cities have been designed around employee experience, with flexible work areas, collaboration zones and informal work caf's aimed at supporting hybrid and team-based working models. The company stated that these design choices align with its broader focus on productivity, innovation and employee wellbeing.
With the establishment of AMGBT, ArcelorMittal adds to the growing list of multinational corporations using Indian cities as strategic GCC destinations, reinforcing Hyderabad and Pune's position as key hubs for global technology and enterprise services.
