The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has signed an agreement for sale with XLRI Xavier School of Management to establish a new campus in Amaravati. The institute plans to develop the campus on a 61.7-acre land parcel with an estimated investment of around INR 300 crore. In its first phase, the campus will accommodate about 1,000 students and offer executive education programmes for around 200 professionals. The project is expected to strengthen Amaravati's education ecosystem and support the state government's plan to position the capital region as a hub for reputed national and international educational institutions.
Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority has entered into an agreement for sale with XLRI Xavier School of Management for the development of a new academic campus in Amaravati. The move marks another step in the state's efforts to strengthen the capital city's role as an emerging centre for higher education and research.
The agreement was formally executed by Jubin Cheeran Roy, Joint Director (Estates) at APCRDA, and Paul Fernandes, Director and authorised representative of XLRI. Officials indicated that the development of the campus reflects the authority's broader strategy to attract reputed institutions to the capital region.
According to the plan, the institute will develop the campus on a 61.7-acre land parcel in Amaravati with an estimated investment of about INR 300 crore. The upcoming facility is expected to be designed as a modern academic environment with infrastructure aligned to international standards in management education.
In its initial phase, the campus is planned to accommodate an integrated academic programme for around 1,000 students. Alongside full-time courses, the institute also intends to introduce executive education programmes for approximately 200 working professionals. The project is envisioned as a smart and sustainable campus with a focus on technology-enabled learning and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
Officials involved in the initiative indicated that the new institution is expected to contribute to the development of Amaravati's academic ecosystem. The presence of a well-established management school is likely to attract students, faculty members and academic partnerships from across India and other countries, further strengthening the region's knowledge economy.
The initiative also aligns with the Government of Andhra Pradesh's broader vision of positioning Amaravati as a centre for globally recognised educational institutions. Over the past few years, the capital region has been planned as a hub for universities, research centres and specialised academic institutions to support long-term economic and knowledge-based growth.
Established in 1949, XLRI is among India's oldest and most respected business schools. The institution has built a reputation for management education and leadership development through its long academic legacy. Its main campus operates in Jamshedpur, while another campus functions in the Delhi NCR region.
The proposed Amaravati campus will therefore become the third major academic base for XLRI. The expansion reflects the institution's continued growth and its effort to extend its academic programmes to new regions while maintaining its focus on responsible leadership, ethical management practices and holistic education.
