The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has executed a lease agreement with NTPC Limited for setting up a facility in Amaravati. The agreement was signed by Jubin Cheeran Roy, Joint Director (Estates), APCRDA, and Kundaram Pawan Kumar, authorised signatory for NTPC Limited. The move is expected to support institutional and infrastructure growth in the capital region. Amaravati is being planned as a hub for key government institutions and organisations. The entry of a central public sector enterprise such as NTPC is likely to add credibility to the city's development plans and strengthen long-term infrastructure and energy-related initiatives in the region.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has executed a lease agreement with NTPC Limited, a Government of India enterprise, for the establishment of its facility in the capital city of Amaravati.
The agreement was signed by Jubin Cheeran Roy, Joint Director (Estates) at APCRDA, on behalf of the authority, while Kundaram Pawan Kumar signed the document as the authorised signatory representing NTPC Limited.
Through this agreement, NTPC will set up its presence in Amaravati, which is expected to contribute to institutional and infrastructure development in the capital region. The establishment of the facility is also expected to support administrative and operational activities linked to the company's role in India's power and energy sector.
The Andhra Pradesh government has been working to position Amaravati as a centre for major institutions, public sector organisations, and administrative infrastructure. In recent years, the state has taken steps to attract central government agencies, financial institutions, and public enterprises to establish offices and operational units in the capital region.
NTPC Limited, one of India's largest power generation companies and a major public sector enterprise under the Government of India, plays a key role in the country's electricity generation and energy infrastructure. Its presence in Amaravati is expected to support the broader institutional ecosystem planned for the capital city.
Officials indicated that the initiative is aligned with the state government's broader development vision for Amaravati. The capital region has been planned with a focus on organised urban infrastructure, administrative centres, and institutional clusters that can support long-term economic and urban growth.
The inclusion of large public sector enterprises is considered an important part of this strategy, as such institutions bring administrative activity, employment opportunities, and infrastructure investments to emerging urban centres.
