The Uttar Pradesh Stamp and Registration Department has launched a comprehensive campaign to increase revenue before the financial year ends. The initiative prioritises registering unregistered properties under development authorities, government bodies, and housing councils, while clearing pending cases and recovering outstanding stamp duties. Projects in Gautam Budh Nagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur are expected to contribute significantly. The department is also updating minimum property values and reviewing legal and infrastructure-linked cases to ensure timely collection and improved compliance.
The Uttar Pradesh Stamp and Registration Department has initiated a structured campaign to boost revenue through stamp duty collection as the financial year nears completion. The drive is focused on registering unregistered properties from development authorities, the Housing Development Council, UPSIDC, and other institutions. Officials are fast-tracking approvals for ongoing projects to ensure stamp duties are collected on time and pending cases are resolved.
The department is also updating stamp rates based on current market values to reflect realistic property pricing. In Gautam Budh Nagar, cases under the Yamuna Industrial Development Authority and Greater Noida Authority are expected to generate INR 93 crore. Meerut's unregistered properties, including those linked to private builders and the RRTS project, are projected to bring INR 252 crore. Ghaziabad could contribute INR 153 crore from the GDA Harnandipuram residential scheme and UPSIDC Modinagar project. In Bareilly, the BDA Pilibhit residential scheme is likely to add INR 50 crore.
Additional collections are expected from Moradabad, where the MDA's Sahayak and Govindpuram residential schemes are estimated to generate INR 22 crore. Varanasi's VDA Ganjari Sports City project is anticipated to bring INR 40 crore, while Gorakhpur's GDA New Township Scheme is projected to add INR 100 crore. The GIDA's lease and freehold deeds may contribute another INR 50 crore. The department is scrutinising NHAI toll plaza-related cases and pursuing settlement of pending legal matters to increase revenue.
This initiative builds on prior efforts to digitise property registrations and streamline procedures, which have helped improve compliance and boost collections in previous years. By targeting government-linked projects and large development schemes, the state aims to optimise stamp duty revenue while encouraging property owners to complete registrations promptly.
