The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) on Tuesday announced the signing of a 115-key SeleQtions hotel in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, marking the brand's entry into the city's hospitality market. The project involves the conversion of a standalone resort, with plans to expand the inventory to 120 keys.
The property will operate under IHCL's SeleQtions brand, which is positioned as a curated collection of distinctive hotels offering unique experiences. The signing strengthens IHCL's footprint in Bengaluru, a key lodging market driven by corporate, technology and growing leisure demand.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President Real Estate and Development at IHCL, said the addition of the hotel will cater to rising demand in the region and expand the company's brandscape in the city. She added that IHCL is partnering with BABA Developers for the project. The hotel will be located in Devanahalli, an emerging hospitality and infrastructure hub near the Kempegowda International Airport.
With this signing, IHCL's portfolio in Bengaluru will increase to 20 hotels, including 11 currently under development. The move reflects the company's strategy of expanding across high-growth urban markets through a mix of greenfield projects and conversions.
In a separate development, Sarovar Hotels announced the opening of two new properties in north India, strengthening its presence in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The company has launched the 90-key Golden Tulip Kukas Jaipur and the 70-key Skywings Sarovar Portico Mathura.
Ajay K Bakaya, Chairman of Sarovar Hotels and Director at Louvre Hotels India, said Jaipur and Mathura are high-potential markets supported by strong leisure, pilgrimage and wedding demand. He noted that the addition of the two hotels aligns with the company's strategy to expand in culturally rich destinations with sustainable growth drivers.
Jaipur continues to attract domestic and international tourists owing to its heritage appeal and popularity as a wedding destination, while Mathura remains a significant pilgrimage centre drawing visitors throughout the year.
Sarovar Hotels currently operates 150 hotels across 87 destinations spanning India, Nepal and Africa. The dual openings underscore the group's continued expansion across tier I and tier II cities, as hospitality players increasingly tap into diversified demand segments beyond major metropolitan centres.
Together, IHCL's signing in Bengaluru and Sarovar's new launches reflect sustained momentum in India's hospitality sector, driven by a mix of business travel, leisure tourism, pilgrimage traffic and social events.
