Synopsis

Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) on Tuesday said its Security Solutions business has secured a contract from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to deploy next-generation gates and an integrated perimeter security system at the airport. The mandate includes installation of Under Vehicle Scanning Systems (UVSS) integrated with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and high-performance tyre killers across key access points. The deployment will cover entry and exit gates of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, enabling end-to-end monitoring of vehicular movement. The project marks CIAL's first large-scale implementation of a comprehensive vehicular access control system. GEG said the order strengthens its footprint in the aviation security segment, particularly in southern India, amid rising demand for advanced, regulation-ready airport security infrastructure.

Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) has secured a major contract from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to deploy advanced vehicular access and perimeter security systems across key access points of the airport, the company said on Tuesday.

The mandate will see GEG's Security Solutions business install Under Vehicle Scanning Systems (UVSS) integrated with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, along with high-performance tyre killers. The integrated system is designed to significantly enhance vehicle screening, strengthen deterrence mechanisms and tighten access control at the airport.

According to the company, the installations will be carried out at the entry and exit gates of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. This will enable comprehensive monitoring of all incoming and outgoing vehicular traffic within designated airport zones. The project marks CIAL's first large-scale implementation of a structured vehicular access control system, reflecting a shift towards more technology-driven and automated security infrastructure.

With this deployment, every vehicle entering the designated airport zones will undergo an automated undercarriage scan through the UVSS platform, the company said. The scanning system is expected to improve screening accuracy, facilitate real-time threat identification and enhance overall perimeter protection. The integration of ANPR technology will further improve traceability of vehicles through stricter digital audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards.

Pushkar Gokhale, Business Head Security Solutions at Godrej Enterprises Group, said aviation continues to be a strategic growth driver for the company's security business. He noted that airports across India are investing significantly in advanced, regulation-ready security infrastructure, resulting in increased demand for smart vehicle screening systems, automated access management and robust deterrent solutions.

He added that the company's expanding footprint across major Indian airports demonstrates growing trust in its security solutions and underlines its long-term commitment to strengthening critical infrastructure nationwide.

Over the past year, GEG's Security Solutions business has reported strong momentum in the critical infrastructure segment. The company has secured similar contracts from airports in Mumbai, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Meerut, Bhogapuram and Hyderabad, further consolidating its position in the aviation security market.

The latest deployment at Cochin International Airport reinforces the broader trend of Indian airports upgrading to integrated, technology-enabled security ecosystems as passenger volumes and regulatory requirements continue to rise.
