IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Rajdeep Infra and Sales for the development of a 135-key voco-branded hotel in Lucknow, marking another addition to its premium portfolio in India's state capitals. The upcoming property reflects IHG's focus on cities witnessing strong administrative, educational and business-led growth. The hotel is scheduled to open in the third quarter and will strengthen IHG's presence in Uttar Pradesh, where demand for branded hospitality continues to rise. Separately, State Bank of India has announced financial support of INR 2.1 crore towards healthcare initiatives across several districts in Maharashtra. The contribution will fund medical infrastructure and hygiene-related interventions, including the donation of a cardiac ambulance and installation of essential public health facilities.
IHG Hotels & Resorts on Monday announced that it has signed a management agreement with Rajdeep Infra and Sales for the development of a 135-key voco Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The upcoming hotel is planned as part of IHG's strategy to expand its premium hospitality portfolio across key state capitals in India.
The company stated that Lucknow's emergence as an important administrative, educational and business centre has made it a suitable market for voco, IHG's premium brand known for its contemporary positioning. The hotel is scheduled to open in the third quarter and is expected to cater to a mix of business travellers, government-related travel and leisure demand in the city.
IHG Hotels & Resorts indicated that the signing reflects its continued focus on strengthening its footprint in high-potential urban markets across the country. The voco brand has been positioned to offer distinctive hospitality experiences, combining premium comfort with a modern design sensibility, aimed at both domestic and international travellers.
IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India, spanning luxury, premium and mid-scale segments. The company continues to expand its pipeline through a combination of new signings and ongoing developments, targeting cities with growing economic activity and improving infrastructure.
In a separate development, State Bank of India announced that it has contributed INR 2.1 crore towards a range of healthcare initiatives across the Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts in Maharashtra. The contribution forms part of the bank's corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at strengthening healthcare access and public health infrastructure in the region.
According to an official statement, the interventions include the donation of a cardiac ambulance valued at INR 26.49 lakh to Matoshree Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde Hospital in Thane. In addition, the initiatives cover the installation of sanitary pad incinerators and water purifiers at select locations to support hygiene and access to safe drinking water.
SBI stated that these measures are intended to improve emergency medical response capabilities and promote basic healthcare and sanitation facilities in urban and semi-urban areas. The bank has been undertaking similar initiatives across various states as part of its broader commitment to social development and community welfare.
Both announcements highlight parallel developments in India's hospitality and social infrastructure landscape, with private sector investment driving expansion in branded hotels, while financial institutions continue to support public health and community-focused projects across key regions.
