The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has strengthened its urban development (UD) tax enforcement in the Civil Lines area, sealing four properties that failed to pay dues while five others settled pending amounts during the drive. The recovery efforts, including interest and penalties, are part of a broader push to improve municipal revenue essential for city development and infrastructure works. Officials emphasized that strict actions, including attachment and sealing, will continue for defaulters. This follows similar drives in other zones as JMC works to ensure better tax compliance across Jaipur.
The Jaipur Municipal Corporation recently carried out a focused drive to enforce urban development tax compliance in the Civil Lines area. During this operation, nine properties were identified for pending UD tax payments. Out of these, five property owners cleared their outstanding dues immediately, contributing nearly INR 12 lakh to the civic body's revenue. The remaining four properties, whose owners failed to comply, were formally attached and sealed as per municipal regulations.
Civil Lines divisional commissioner Devanand Sharma clarified that the municipal authority ensured recovery of all pending taxes, including interest and penalties prescribed under state guidelines. JMC commissioner Gaurav Saini stated that no leniency would be shown to defaulters and that attachment and sealing actions would continue for property owners who delay payment. He further explained that a consistent and timely collection of UD tax is crucial for funding city development works, maintenance of civic infrastructure, and providing public services efficiently.
These enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts by the civic body to improve compliance with urban taxes across Jaipur. In previous months, similar drives were conducted in other parts of the city, reflecting the JMC's commitment to strengthen municipal revenue and ensure property owners adhere to statutory obligations. Officials noted that these drives not only secure funds for development but also encourage accountability and regular tax payments from property owners.
