Tata Group opens Taj Paro Resort & Spa in Bhutan, expanding regional presence

Synopsis

Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has expanded its presence in Bhutan with the launch of the 45-key Taj Paro Resort & Spa, in collaboration with CG Hospitality. The move reinforces IHCL's long-standing regional strategy, complementing its existing properties in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Nepal, and India. Leaders from both IHCL and CG Hospitality highlighted that the new resort enhances Bhutan's status as a global tourism destination while strengthening a two-decade partnership. The company currently operates 392 hotels worldwide, with 143 more under development.

Tata Group-owned Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) recently announced the opening of the 45-key Taj Paro Resort & Spa, marking a significant expansion of its presence in Bhutan. The launch also represents a continuation of its long-standing collaboration with CG Hospitality.


The partnership between IHCL and CG Hospitality spans the Indian Sub-Continent and the Middle East, with notable properties including Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa in the Maldives, Taj Samudra in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Taj Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai, two Vivanta hotels in Nepal, and Taj Safaris, the luxury wildlife lodges in India and Nepal.

IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal highlighted that the opening of Taj Paro Resort & Spa aligns with the company's strategy to grow its footprint in the Indian Sub-Continent. He noted that this addition strengthens the two-decade-long partnership with CG Hospitality Global, part of the CG Corp Global, which has an extensive portfolio of hotels across the Middle East, Greater Himalayan region, and the Indian Ocean.

Rahul Chaudhary, MD & CEO of CG Hospitality Global, added that the launch of Taj in Paro, backed by the globally recognized hospitality of Taj, would further establish Bhutan as a premier destination for international tourism.

Currently, IHCL has a global portfolio of 392 hotels, with 143 more under development across four continents, spanning 14 countries and over 150 locations.
