Google is set to commence construction of a large-scale data centre hub in Andhra Pradesh from April 28, marking one of the largest foreign direct investments in India's digital infrastructure sector. The project, estimated at around USD 15 billion (approximately INR 1.25 lakh crore), will be developed across multiple sites near Visakhapatnam with a planned capacity of about 1 gigawatt. Titagarh Naval Systems Ltd has secured in-principle approval from the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for a brownfield expansion project at Falta, West Bengal. The project, with an investment of around INR 610 crore, falls under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme and includes government capital assistance of about INR 129 crore for plant and machinery. The expansion is aimed at improving shipbuilding capacity for defence, commercial and export markets. The Thane-Borivali twin tunnel project has entered the execution phase with the launch of tunnel boring machine Nayak in Thane. The 11.84 km underground corridor, being developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, aims to cut travel time between the two locations to about 15 minutes. While tunnelling has started from the Thane end, work at the Borivali side is facing delays due to pending rehabilitation. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has initiated the development of an elevated pedestrian walkway at Silk Board Junction in Bengaluru to connect the operational Yellow Line with the under-construction Blue Line. SRM Contractors has been awarded an INR 483 crore contract by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) for a key package of the Nashik Ring Road project.
