Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated Electrotherm Park in South Bopal, a newly developed 11,600 sq m public garden created through a PPP partnership between Electrotherm (India) Ltd and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Designed around a river-inspired layout, the park features open green spaces, a water channel along the jogging track, age-specific play zones, an open-air gym, pet park, traditional-games corners and shaded seating areas. With over 22,800 plants, including fruit trees and flowering species, the space promotes biodiversity and nature-based learning. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's standing committee has reviewed proposals for 17 new high-rise projects across Bodakdev, Thaltej, Ambli-Bopal, Science City Road, Gota and Shilaj, reflecting growing demand for residential, commercial and mixed-use spaces in the city's expanding western corridors. Together, these projects will add about 2,000 homes and 2,300 commercial units, while AMC has already earned nearly INR 250 crore through permissions and related charges. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation generated INR 473.7 crore from an online auction held earlier this week, where five of the 13 listed land parcels were sold across Shilaj, Chandkheda-Zundal, Sola-Hebatpur and Vastral. The residential plot in Shilaj sold at its base rate, while commercial plots in Sola-Hebatpur attracted significantly higher bids, contributing the highest premium revenue. The remaining plots in Chandkheda-Zundal and Vastral saw sales marginally above their base values. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has approved a wastewater-user levy on luxury hotels discharging more than 10 kilolitres per day, with the charge set at INR 8 per kilolitre. Around 20 upscale properties, including three- to five-star hotels, will see this applied from the 2026-27 billing cycle. The revision is linked to compliance norms required for a major infrastructure upgrade supported through an international funding programme. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) this week dismantled 14 illegal constructions surrounding Bhoja Talav along the Narol-Aslali Highway in Vatva, freeing approximately 12,540 sq m of lake-land from encroachment. At the same time in Lambha ward, two unused public toilet blocks and five compound walls in Saijpur-Gopalpur were removed. In Jamalpur, a structure on a leased plot whose lease expired in 2009 was demolished under police protection as the occupant was reportedly a history sheathe. Meanwhile, the AMC's solid waste management team inspected 289 units city-wide, issued littering notices in 116 cases, and seized 6 kg of banned plastic.Read more

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPI) in Ahmedabad has developed a new parallel taxiway for Code C aircraft to enhance ground handling efficiency and reduce delays. The taxiway is expected to become operational by the end of December after getting approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Once active, the airport�s aircraft movement capacity could rise by nearly 20 %, helping reduce fuel use and turnaround time. LuLu International Shopping Malls Pvt Ltd has purchased a 66,168 sq m plot in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, for INR 519.41 crore, marking the city's largest-ever property transaction. The deal, registered at the Sabarmati sub-registrar's office, generated INR 31 crore in stamp duty, a record for Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation had auctioned the land at a base price of INR 76,000 per sq m, with LuLu securing it at INR 78,500 per sq m. Sardar Baug, a heritage garden in Ahmedabad, has been reopened to the public after a complete restoration carried out by UNM Foundation under its PRATITI initiative. Once known for its orchards and gatherings of freedom fighters, the garden had fallen into decline over the decades. The restoration has revived both its cultural and ecological identity with features such as a walking track, children's play area, amphitheatre, rose garden, and water bodies. Earlier this week, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation revealed plans to widen and open more than two hundred roads across the city, affecting approximately 8 767 properties. In the past week, a major property tax scam was uncovered in Ahmedabad, affecting more than 1,000 citizens mainly in the city's West Zone. A group of agents allegedly collected cash from property owners over several years, tampered with official records using an AMC employee's login, and falsely cleared dues in the system. As a result, several residents are now receiving backdated bills, some as high as INR 1.59 lakh. The scam is estimated to have caused losses between INR 1.5 crore and INR 2 crore. AMC has not yet taken action against any employees involved or confirmed how much of the fraudulent amount has been recovered.Read more

Although these sensors frequently trigger alerts when pollution thresholds are breached, no penalties have been issued, as enforcement lies with the zonal estate department, which has yet to act. The Centre had supported AMC under the National Clean Air Programme after the city achieved a 40% drop in PM10 levels through greening, EV infrastructure, smart parking, and cleaner crematoriums.
