Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated Electrotherm Park in South Bopal, a newly developed 11,600 sq m public garden created through a PPP partnership between Electrotherm (India) Ltd and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Designed around a river-inspired layout, the park features open green spaces, a water channel along the jogging track, age-specific play zones, an open-air gym, pet park, traditional-games corners and shaded seating areas. With over 22,800 plants, including fruit trees and flowering species, the space promotes biodiversity and nature-based learning. Ahmedabad land auction sees strong bids for Sola-Hebatpur commercial plots

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation generated INR 473.7 crore from an online auction held earlier this week, where five of the 13 listed land parcels were sold across Shilaj, Chandkheda-Zundal, Sola-Hebatpur and Vastral. The residential plot in Shilaj sold at its base rate, while commercial plots in Sola-Hebatpur attracted significantly higher bids, contributing the highest premium revenue. The remaining plots in Chandkheda-Zundal and Vastral saw sales marginally above their base values. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) this week dismantled 14 illegal constructions surrounding Bhoja Talav along the Narol-Aslali Highway in Vatva, freeing approximately 12,540 sq m of lake-land from encroachment. At the same time in Lambha ward, two unused public toilet blocks and five compound walls in Saijpur-Gopalpur were removed. In Jamalpur, a structure on a leased plot whose lease expired in 2009 was demolished under police protection as the occupant was reportedly a history sheathe. Over 1,000 Ahmedabad residents hit by inflated property tax notices

In the past week, a major property tax scam was uncovered in Ahmedabad, affecting more than 1,000 citizens mainly in the city's West Zone. A group of agents allegedly collected cash from property owners over several years, tampered with official records using an AMC employee's login, and falsely cleared dues in the system. As a result, several residents are now receiving backdated bills, some as high as INR 1.59 lakh. The scam is estimated to have caused losses between INR 1.5 crore and INR 2 crore.
