Parle Products has received partial environmental clearance to demolish its historic factory in Vile Parle East, Mumbai, and redevelop the site into a commercial complex. Property owners within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits are facing prolonged delays in accessing khata services, with khata bifurcation suspended for years and B-khata to A-khata conversions moving slowly. The issue has intensified after approval powers shifted from BDA to GBA, pending zoning amendments. Thousands of owners, especially those with ancestral, joint or subdivided properties, are unable to sell, build or secure loans. Even vacant plots remain without khata, adding to uncertainty. While applications have moved online, most lack required layout documents. The Tata Group has expressed interest in partnering with the Telangana government on the Musi Riverfront Project and exploring fresh investments in sectors such as AI data centres, semiconductors and electric vehicles. In 2025, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) emerged as the most active land acquisition market in India, with 32 deals covering over 500 acres, accounting for more than 13% of nationwide land transactions. Across India, 126 deals aggregated more than 3,772 acres, a notable increase from 2024's 2,514 acres, despite slightly fewer deals. Residential projects led acquisitions, followed by mixed-use, industrial, logistics, commercial, and retail developments. Bengaluru, Pune, NCR, Hyderabad, and Chennai also recorded significant land deals, while tier II and tier III cities, led by Ahmedabad, contributed over 2,193 acres to the total.Read more

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is planning a consolidated layout approach for returnable plots under Amaravati's Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) phase two. The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the allotment of a 3.6-acre plot in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for the construction of a Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at a token rate of INR 1 per square metre, with all usual premiums and infrastructure charges waived. The decision, taken on January 17 under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, formalises a proposal that was under consideration for several months and draws on precedents where land was previously allotted to TTD at nominal cost. Located in Sector 12 of Ulwe, a fast-developing node near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (Atal Setu), the concessional land grant will support a temple intended to serve devotees across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) plans to launch a major residential plot scheme this month, offering 973 residential plots near the upcoming Noida International Airport, reflecting strong infrastructure-led demand in the region. The plots, to be offered across Sectors 15C, 18 and 24A along the Yamuna Expressway corridor, will range in size from 162 sq m to 290 sq m and are expected to be priced at an average of about INR 35,000 per sq metre. Prior to the launch, the scheme will seek mandatory registration with the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) before applications open. Interested buyers can register by paying a 10% registration fee and participate in a computerised lucky draw for allotment. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed authorities to act against unauthorised construction in the green belt of Sector 16, Rohini. Telangana police uncovered a land registration scam involving Dharani and Bhu Bharati portals, resulting in a loss of about INR 3.9 crore in government revenue. Authorities in Gurugram have undertaken a significant demolition drive to clear illegal colonies developed without required permissions, razing unauthorised structures across 8.5 acres of land.
