The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has allotted 549 developed residential plots to farmers and landowners who contributed land under the land pooling policy for the IT City project along Sultanpur Road in Lucknow. The allotment was conducted through a lottery draw held earlier this week at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. The plots, located across sectors 15, 16, 17, 18 and 30 of the planned township, were distributed in six size categories ranging from 35 sq m to 288 sq m. Around 350 landowners had pooled approximately 550 acres of land for the project, which is being developed over about 3,490 acres across villages in Mohanlalganj tehsil. The allotment forms part of the authority's strategy to compensate farmers with developed plots while assembling land for the integrated IT City township.
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) earlier this week conducted a lottery draw to allot 549 developed residential plots to farmers and landowners who contributed land under the land pooling policy for its IT City project along Sultanpur Road in Lucknow. The draw took place at the Mars auditorium of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan and was organised for landowners who had executed land pooling agreements with the authority before the stipulated deadline.
The allotment forms part of the land pooling mechanism adopted by the authority to assemble land for the large-scale township project while returning a portion of developed land to original landowners. According to officials, around 350 farmers and landowners pooled nearly 550 acres of land for the scheme. The IT City project itself is planned across approximately 3,490 acres along the Sultanpur Road corridor and covers several villages in the Mohanlalganj tehsil of Lucknow district.
The plots allotted through the lottery are located in sectors 15, 16, 17, 18 and 30 of the IT City layout. Six plot size categories were included in the draw, measuring 288 sq m, 200 sq m, 162 sq m, 128 sq m, 72 sq m and 35 sq m. Eligible landowners who had completed agreements with the authority by the end of January were invited to participate in the allotment process. During the event, participants were called to the stage to draw slips, while the entire process was also streamed online to ensure transparency.
Officials indicated that the land pooling policy is intended to facilitate urban development without relying solely on conventional land acquisition. Under this model, landowners voluntarily contribute land for large projects and receive a share of developed plots in return after infrastructure and planning work is completed. This approach allows development authorities to assemble large contiguous parcels of land while enabling farmers to participate in the value created through urban development.
The IT City project is being developed as an integrated township with a mix of residential, commercial and technology-focused zones. Planned components include IT and IT-enabled services facilities, residential sectors, commercial spaces and supporting urban infrastructure. The development is located along the Sultanpur Road corridor, an area that has been identified for large-scale urban expansion supported by road connectivity and proximity to the city's outer ring road network.
LDA officials stated that the allotment of plots to farmers represents a key step in implementing the land pooling policy for the township project. Farmers and landowners who attended the draw indicated that the process had been conducted in an organised and transparent manner. With the first round of plot allotments completed, the authority is expected to continue development of residential sectors and supporting infrastructure as the IT City project progresses.
