Pune-based EFC is making a major move in the co-working space market, expanding its portfolio by 3.6 lakh square feet (sq. ft) across Pune and Noida. This growth reflects the rising demand for flexible workspaces in India, especially in key business hubs.

EFC's expansion focuses on two key Indian cities: Noida and Pune. In Noida, a rapidly developing business centre, EFC has strategically added 1.1 lakh square feet, strengthening its presence in this dynamic market. In its home city of Pune, EFC has significantly expanded its footprint by acquiring an additional 2.5 lakh square feet, solidifying its position as a leading provider of co-working spaces in the area.

With this expansion, EFC now boasts a national presence across seven states. Their network encompasses over 35 coworking centers, spanning a total area exceeding 1.5 million sq. ft. This extensive network provides close to 50,000 seats for businesses and professionals seeking flexible workspace solutions.

EFC caters to a diverse client base. Nearly 65% of their occupied seats serve the institutional segment. This segment likely includes large companies (e.g., with 100+ employees), government agencies, or educational institutions that utilize co-working spaces for specific projects or teams. The remaining 35% of EFC's occupied seats cater to the retail segment, encompassing individual entrepreneurs, freelancers, and startups seeking cost-effective and adaptable workspace solutions. With 4,250 potential seats added through this expansion (calculated at an industry average of 1,150 seats per lakh sq ft), EFC is well-positioned to accommodate the growing needs of both established and emerging businesses.

EFC's expansion reflects a significant trend in the Indian co-working space market. Many businesses are moving away from traditional office lease agreements, opting for the flexibility and cost-effectiveness offered by co-working spaces. This trend is likely to continue as remote and hybrid work models become increasingly popular. By strategically expanding its presence in key cities and catering to diverse client needs, EFC is well-positioned to capitalize on this growing demand for flexible workspaces.
