Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has allocated two out of five data centre plots in Delhi's Sector 28, generating revenue of Rs 59 crore. These two plots, promising a proposed investment of Rs 1,757 crore, are set to create around 775 jobs. The allocation process was based on thorough evaluations and interviews, with Sify Infinite Spaces Limited and Jackson Limited emerging as the deserving recipients of data centre plots D10 and D9, respectively. These strategic steps align with YEIDA's vision of fostering data centre industry growth, marking a pivotal move in the region's digital transformation and economic development.
The YEIDA has made a noteworthy allocation of two out of five data centre plots situated in Sector 28, a thriving district on the outskirts of Delhi. This strategic move promises to deliver substantial revenue of Rs 59.17 crore to the authority. The allotted data centre plots in question are poised to witness a proposed investment of Rs 1,757.45 crore, marking a significant development expected to generate around 775 employment opportunities. YEIDA introduced the scheme for the sale of these five data centre plots in Sector 28, located along the Yamuna Expressway, which acts as a crucial link between the prominent urban centres of Noida and Agra. This scheme, launched on September 27, 2023, aimed to create a conducive environment for the data centre industry to flourish.
The application window for this scheme was open until October 26. Under this initiative, YEIDA offered three plots, each spanning 20,000 square meters, along with one plot measuring 40,000 square meters and another expansive plot covering an impressive 1,25,660 square meters. Despite the vast potential, it is noteworthy that only three applications were received for the plots measuring 20,000 square meters each. However, the allocation process was conducted with meticulous care and diligence. The authority embarked on a comprehensive process that included interviews with applicants and a thorough evaluation of their company profiles.
The decisive moment arrived when the allotment committee convened on November 7 to conduct interviews and meticulously scrutinize the profiles of the applicant companies. This process was designed to identify the most suitable and eligible candidates to carry forward the development of these significant data centre projects. Ultimately, after a thorough and rigorous assessment, two companies that specialize in the data centre sector emerged as the deserving recipients. Sify Infinite Spaces Limited and Jackson Limited were deemed eligible for the allotment of data centre plots D10 and D9, respectively. This strategic decision aligns with YEIDA's vision to foster the growth of the data centre industry within the region.
The allocation process factored in the financial dynamics, with D10 being allotted at a reserve price of Rs 15,497 per square meter, while D9 secured its allocation at a rate of Rs 14,088 per square meter. These favourable terms are a testament to the authority's commitment to facilitating the growth of the data centre sector while ensuring equitable benefits for all stakeholders. YEIDA’s forward-thinking approach to nurturing the data centre industry aligns with the broader trends in the digital landscape, where data centres play an increasingly pivotal role in supporting the digital infrastructure and technological advancements of the modern era.
This strategic allocation of data centre plots not only promises significant revenue for the authority but also reflects the region's commitment to fostering technological innovation and economic growth through the data centre industry. In conclusion, the allocation of these data centre plots in Sector 28 represents a crucial step towards transforming the region into a burgeoning hub for data centre operations, reflecting the forward-looking vision of YEIDA in promoting economic development and technological progress within the digital age.
