The Government of India has blocked 232 apps run by foreign entities, including those from China, due to their involvement in activities such as betting, gambling, and providing unauthorized loans. According to sources, LazyPay, IndiaBulls Home Loans, and Kissht have been included in the list of websites that have been blocked by the Ministry of Electronics and IT. The Ministry issued the blocking orders on Saturday in response to an emergency request from a nodal officer of the home ministry.
The Government of India has blocked 232 apps run by foreign entities, including those from China, due to their involvement in activities such as betting, gambling, and providing unauthorized loans. According to sources, LazyPay, IndiaBulls Home Loans, and Kissht have been included in the list of websites that have been blocked by the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
According to the list issued by the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity), lazypay.in, a subsidiary of Dutch investment firm Prosus, has been blocked. The list also includes indiabullshomeloans.com operated by Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd and kissht.com operated by ONEMI Technology Solutions Private Limited, an RBI registered NBFC firm.
The Ministry issued the blocking orders on Saturday in response to an emergency request from a nodal officer of the home ministry. An official source stated that these 138 betting and gambling websites and 94 loan apps were involved in illegal money laundering and posed a threat to the financial security of the country. Other websites included in the blocked list are buddyloan.com, cashtm.in, faircent.com, true-balance.en , and uptodown.com.
