Logistics platform Porter has expanded its intra-city operations to eight new cities across six states, strengthening its presence in regional markets and targeting demand from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The rollout includes Mysore, Madurai, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Meerut, Agra, Aurangabad and Thrissur. Operations have commenced with two-wheeler logistics, with plans to introduce larger vehicle categories in subsequent phases. The expansion is aimed at addressing fragmented supply chains, improving last-mile connectivity and enabling cost-efficient goods movement. Porter has onboarded around 4,000 driver-partners across these cities and expects to generate over 64,000 jobs in the first year, reflecting the growing role of tech-enabled logistics in regional economies.
Porter has expanded its intra-city logistics network to eight new cities across six states, with operations launched in the past week as the company scales its presence in regional markets to cater to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The company has commenced services in Mysore, Madurai, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Meerut, Agra, Aurangabad and Thrissur, marking its entry into Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala. The expansion targets cities with established industrial and trading clusters, where demand for reliable and structured logistics services remains high.
Operations in the first phase are being carried out through two-wheeler logistics, designed to facilitate goods movement in congested markets and narrow urban streets. The company has indicated plans to introduce additional vehicle categories, including three-wheelers and small commercial vehicles such as Tata Ace, in the coming months to support scaling requirements.
The expansion is aimed at addressing structural challenges in intra-city logistics, including fragmented supply chains, limited availability of organised transport services and inconsistent service reliability. Porter stated that its digital, on-demand platform enables businesses to manage logistics more efficiently, with features such as real-time booking and GST-compliant billing supporting operational transparency and cost control.
The selected cities represent key regional economic hubs with strong MSME activity. Mysore and Madurai are known for textile and light manufacturing clusters, while Jabalpur and Gwalior have engineering and handicraft industries. Meerut and Agra serve as centres for sports goods, hardware and leather products, while Aurangabad and Thrissur contribute through automobile, textile and coir-based industries.
According to the company, approximately 4,000 driver-partners have been onboarded across these new markets, with the number expected to increase as operations scale. Porter has projected that the expansion could generate over 64,000 employment opportunities within the first year of operations, driven by demand for last-mile delivery services and logistics support.
Company representatives indicated that MSMEs remain central to economic activity in these regions but often face challenges in goods movement due to infrastructure constraints and unorganised transport systems. The expansion is intended to provide dependable, technology-enabled logistics solutions to improve reliability and enable businesses to expand beyond local markets.
Porter currently serves over 3.6 million customers every quarter and has onboarded more than 1.2 million driver-partners nationwide. The latest rollout reflects a broader shift towards digital logistics platforms in India, particularly in Tier II and Tier III cities, where demand for structured intra-city transport solutions continues to grow.
