Jindal Stainless has begun sourcing clean energy from Oyster Renewable Energy's 216 MW hybrid renewable project located in Madhya Pradesh. This development follows a power purchase agreement signed in 2024 for the supply of hybrid energy combining solar and wind power.


Under the agreement, Oyster Renewable is set to supply more than 700 million units of electricity annually from two hybrid projects with a combined capacity of 315 MW. These projects are being developed with an investment of around INR 2,000 crore, including a contribution of INR 132 crore from Jindal Stainless.

Power supply has already commenced from the first phase of the project, which has a capacity of 216 MW. Around 450 million units of electricity will be delivered to the company's manufacturing facilities in Jajpur, Odisha, and Hisar, Haryana. This is expected to support stable operations while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.

An additional hybrid capacity of 99 MW is currently under development in Gujarat. This phase is expected to become operational by June this year and will supply approximately 250 million units of green energy to Jindal Stainless plants.

Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal stated that this initiative supports the company's long-term target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. He indicated that large-scale renewable partnerships are expected to play an important role in driving industrial decarbonisation across the country.

The company has already shown measurable progress in reducing its environmental impact. In FY25, it recorded a 14 per cent year-on-year reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, avoiding nearly 3,18,248 metric tonnes compared to the previous financial year. For FY26, the focus remains on increasing the share of green energy in its overall consumption.

Data from the October-December 2025 period shows that renewable energy accounted for more than 50 per cent of the company's total imported power consumption, reflecting a steady shift in its energy mix.

Oyster Renewable Energy's Managing Director and CEO Siddharth Bhatia stated that the project is expected to provide reliable and cost-efficient clean power to Jindal Stainless, while helping reduce carbon emissions by about 6.5 lakh tonnes annually. He added that the company plans to expand similar collaborations in the commercial and industrial segment as demand for firm renewable energy continues to rise in India.

Jindal Stainless, with an annual turnover exceeding INR 40,000 crore, remains the largest stainless steel producer in India and is among the top five globally. Oyster Renewable operates as an independent power producer focused on serving commercial and industrial customers.
