Synopsis

Navi Mumbai International Airport, inaugurated in December last year, is significantly increasing its operations in its first summer schedule. Daily departures will rise from 22 to 78, totaling 1,092 weekly flights. The expansion includes connections to 46 domestic destinations, with 30 new routes covering commercial, tourist, and religious hubs. Key routes with highest frequency include Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, and Kochi. This growth reflects the airport's rapid operational scaling and aims to provide better connectivity while easing pressure on existing Mumbai airports.

Navi Mumbai International Airport, which began operations in late December last year, is set to scale up its services under its first summer schedule. The airport plans to increase average daily departures from 22 to 78 by April, with total weekly air traffic movements projected at 1,092.

This expansion will connect the airport to 46 domestic destinations between the end of March and late October, introducing 30 new routes. These routes span commercial, tourism, and religious centres, aiming to improve accessibility for passengers across key cities.

Among the busiest sectors, Delhi will have nine daily departures, Goa seven, Bengaluru six, and Kochi five. Other important destinations include Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Indore. The summer schedule covers peak travel months, while remaining months are included in the winter schedule, allowing airlines to balance seasonal demand.

The airport's growth follows its initial launch phase, which featured limited flights as services stabilized. Major domestic carriers operating from NMIA reflect confidence in the airport's capacity to offer alternative travel options and relieve congestion at Mumbai's existing airports. The airport's phased development plans aim to gradually enhance passenger handling and route networks, ensuring it meets future demand.
