The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new warehousing and logistics projects with a combined investment of around INR 800 crore, aimed at strengthening supply chain infrastructure across the state. Cleared under the Uttar Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022, the projects include five silos, two warehousing units and one logistics facility, to be developed across districts such as Unnao, Auraiya, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur. Spread over nearly 110 acres, the developments are intended to enhance foodgrain storage capacity, support agricultural logistics, and improve industrial distribution networks. The approvals reflect growing investor participation driven by policy incentives, including financial assistance and tax benefits.
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has approved eight new warehousing and logistics projects with an estimated investment of INR 800 crore, with the decision taken in the past week under the state's Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 to strengthen storage and distribution infrastructure across multiple districts. The projects will be implemented across approximately 110 acres in locations including Unnao, Auraiya, Balrampur, Shravasti, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur, targeting improvements in agricultural and industrial supply chains.
The approved developments comprise five silo projects, two warehousing units and one logistics facility. These are designed to enhance storage capacity for foodgrains while supporting broader logistics requirements linked to manufacturing and distribution. Officials indicated that the projects would contribute to reducing post-harvest losses, improving storage efficiency and enabling more streamlined movement of goods across the state.
The approvals have been granted under a policy framework that offers financial incentives, tax exemptions and assistance for setting up logistics and storage infrastructure on private land. According to officials, these provisions have contributed to increased investor participation in the warehousing and logistics segment, reflecting a growing interest in infrastructure-led development within the state.
With the addition of these eight projects, UPSIDA has approved a total of 61 warehousing and logistics developments under the Warehousing and Logistics Policy-2022 and associated programmes. These projects together represent proposed investments exceeding INR 12,900 crore and are spread across nearly 810 acres, indicating the scale of infrastructure expansion being pursued in the sector.
Officials noted that the ongoing expansion is aligned with efforts to build multi-modal logistics hubs, warehouse clusters and modern distribution centres across the state. The developments are also expected to generate employment and improve connectivity between agricultural production zones and consumption centres, particularly in districts with significant farming activity.
The geographical spread of the newly approved projects is expected to support regional balance by strengthening logistics networks across central, western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Improved storage infrastructure is also likely to support procurement systems and ensure better price realisation for agricultural produce through reduced wastage and improved handling capacity.
The approvals form part of a broader push by the state government to expand logistics and industrial infrastructure, with policy-driven incentives aimed at attracting private investment into supply chain assets. The warehousing sector has emerged as a key component of this strategy, supported by Uttar Pradesh's central location, growing industrial base and expanding connectivity through highways and freight corridors.
