At the same time, vacant plots are being used for dumping waste due to irregular collection. Residents say the problems have continued for a long time despite repeated complaints. The situation is affecting daily movement in a busy area that connects major parts of the city.
Hosur Cross in Hubballi is witnessing a steady decline in basic civic conditions, with road damage and waste mismanagement affecting both residents and daily commuters. The road stretch linking PB Road to Colony Road has developed multiple potholes and uneven patches. This has slowed down traffic movement and created difficulties for two-wheelers and larger vehicles, especially during busy hours. In addition, a damaged manhole cover on this route has remained unattended, increasing the risk of accidents for both pedestrians and motorists.
Garbage accumulation has become another visible concern in the area. Several empty plots around Hosur First Cross and nearby stretches are now being used as informal dumping spots. Waste continues to pile up due to irregular door-to-door collection and lack of monitoring. This has led to hygiene issues and an unpleasant environment for people living nearby.
Residents have indicated that these problems have existed for a long time. They have raised multiple complaints with civic authorities, but according to them, the response has been slow and inconsistent. People living in the area said that despite repeated follow-ups, only temporary fixes are carried out and the issues return after some time.
Hosur Cross holds importance due to its connectivity to key locations such as the New Bus Stand, Gokul area and the airport. The presence of commercial establishments and a regional bus terminal also increases daily footfall and traffic. Poor road conditions and waste build-up in such a high-movement area directly affect commuting and local business activity.
Similar civic concerns have been reported in other parts of Hubballi as well, particularly after monsoon-related damage. Delays in road repair work and weak enforcement against open garbage dumping have contributed to recurring problems across the city. This points to broader gaps in maintenance and waste management systems.
Officials have acknowledged the situation and indicated that corrective steps are being planned. However, residents continue to expect faster execution and more regular upkeep, especially in areas like Hosur Cross where infrastructure plays a key role in daily movement.
