Synopsis

APCRDA Commissioner K. Kannababu IAS inspected multiple ongoing infrastructure projects in Amaravati, including Kondaveeti Vagu, associated canals, and Krishnayapalem Reservoir, along with senior officials. The inspection focused on managing rainwater flows following recent heavy rains and ensuring that construction activities are not disrupted. Officials were instructed to monitor reservoirs, maintain proper water movement through gravity canals, and prevent water accumulation from affecting transport and nearby residents. The Commissioner also emphasized creating alternative routes and maintaining continuous oversight of water management across key project areas.

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Commissioner K. Kannababu IAS conducted inspections across several ongoing infrastructure projects in Amaravati on Friday. The inspection was carried out along with CRDA Engineer-in-Chief R. Gopalakrishna Reddy, officials from the engineering department, and other concerned authorities.

During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed key locations including Kondaveeti Vagu, its associated canals, Krishnayapalem Reservoir, and surrounding project areas. The inspection was prompted by recent sudden rainfall, which led to increased water flow in several parts of the capital region. The Commissioner examined how the rainwater was moving through the existing drainage and canal systems and assessed the impact on ongoing construction works.

Officials were instructed to ensure that rainwater flows are managed efficiently, particularly in areas where construction activities are underway. The Commissioner also reviewed temporary barriers and other arrangements placed along water paths to prevent interference with construction work. Suggestions were made to improve these arrangements so that water movement remains uninterrupted while safeguarding project sites.

He further directed officials to regularly monitor the functioning of the three reservoirs in Amaravati, along with the gravity canal network. Attention was also drawn to ensuring that accumulated rainwater does not obstruct the movement of vehicles or inconvenience nearby residents and villagers. Maintaining accessibility in these areas was highlighted as a priority alongside ongoing development work.

The Commissioner also advised officials to plan and implement alternative routes wherever necessary to allow rainwater to flow freely without hindering construction activities. Proper coordination among departments was emphasized to avoid disruptions and ensure that both infrastructure development and water management progress simultaneously.

According to the ongoing development framework aligned with the vision of Honrable Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and under the guidance of State Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana, capital works in Amaravati are progressing steadily. These include road networks, infrastructure development in LPS zones for farmers who contributed land, and major government buildings such as the High Court, Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, GAD and HOD towers, along with residential quarters for officers and judges within the Amaravati Government Complex, all moving forward as per planned timelines.
