The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has confirmed that the draw of lots for 179 flats under its Atal Apartment scheme will be conducted on April 14 in Ludhiana. The allocation includes 43 High Income Group (HIG) and 136 Middle Income Group (MIG) units, with over 1,500 applications received for the remaining inventory. The draw will be held at Nehru Sidhant Kendra, following scrutiny of applications and publication of the final applicant list. The project, located at Karnail Singh Nagar on Pakhowal Road, is currently under construction and is expected to be completed later in the year. The scheme remains LIT's only active housing project, reflecting continued demand for state-led residential supply in the city.
The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has scheduled the draw of lots for 179 remaining flats under its Atal Apartment scheme to be conducted on April 14 in Ludhiana, following completion of the application scrutiny process and finalisation of the eligible applicant list in the past week. The draw will determine allotments across High Income Group (HIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) categories within the ongoing residential project at Karnail Singh Nagar, Pakhowal Road.
The allotment exercise covers 43 HIG and 136 MIG flats, forming part of the unsold inventory within the project. The Trust received a total of 1,540 applications, including 566 for HIG units and 974 for MIG units, indicating strong demand for the remaining housing stock. Officials stated that applications were scrutinised and objections addressed before publishing the final list on the Trust's website and notice board.
The draw is scheduled to take place at Nehru Sidhant Kendra in the Feroze Gandhi Market area, with the process open to applicants and the general public. Authorities clarified that no individual invitations would be issued, and participation would be based on the public notice issued by the Trust.
The Atal Apartment scheme is being developed as a multi-storey residential project under a self-financing model on approximately 8.80 acres of land. The project comprises a mix of HIG and MIG units, forming part of LIT's broader housing initiative aimed at providing organised residential development within the city.
The scheme has undergone multiple phases and delays over the years, with earlier allotments conducted through similar draw mechanisms. The current draw pertains to the remaining inventory after previous allotments, including earlier phases where several units had already been distributed.
Construction activity at the site is reported to be progressing, with officials indicating that possession of flats is expected by the end of the year, subject to completion timelines. The project holds significance for the Trust, as it currently represents its only active housing development initiative.
The continued response from applicants reflects sustained demand for planned housing supply in Ludhiana, particularly in organised projects led by public agencies. With limited new schemes introduced in recent years, the Atal Apartment project remains central to LIT's residential development pipeline, with the upcoming draw marking a key step in completing allotments for the remaining units.
