The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has directed builders and developers to implement stringent safety and environmental measures at construction sites across its jurisdiction in Hyderabad. The instructions, issued during a stakeholder meeting in the past week, emphasise compliance with statutory norms, including worker safety, dust and pollution control, and adherence to sanctioned building plans. The civic body has also mandated proper disposal of construction debris through authorised agencies and reinforced conditions around occupancy certificate approvals. The move comes amid increasing construction activity in the IT corridor and surrounding areas, with authorities seeking to ensure that urban expansion does not compromise public safety or environmental standards. The directive applies to both ongoing and upcoming projects and involves coordination with industry bodies.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) commissioner G Srijana directed builders and developers in the past week to implement strict safety measures and adhere to environmental and regulatory norms across all ongoing and upcoming construction projects within Cyberabad, Hyderabad.


The directive was issued during a meeting with representatives of industry bodies, including the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI), National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) and the Telangana Developers Association, where concerns around construction safety, pollution control and regulatory compliance were reviewed.

The commissioner instructed developers to ensure that construction sites adopt adequate safety protocols to safeguard workers as well as the general public. Measures such as proper site management, safety precautions and risk mitigation were emphasised as essential requirements rather than advisory guidelines.

Environmental compliance formed a key focus of the directives, with builders asked to implement active measures to control dust and air pollution generated during construction activities. Developers were also directed to adhere to prescribed norms for noise pollution and ensure that mitigation practices are in place throughout the construction cycle.

The civic body further clarified that applications for partial Occupancy Certificates (OCs) would only be accepted once construction has been completed strictly in accordance with the sanctioned plan. This condition reinforces compliance at the execution stage and aims to prevent deviations from approved layouts and structural norms.

Construction waste management was identified as another critical area of enforcement. Developers were instructed to ensure that debris generated at project sites is handed over exclusively to authorised agencies for disposal, in line with municipal regulations.

Additionally, builders were directed to maintain buffer zones as per sanctioned plans without any deviations. The requirement applies particularly to environmentally sensitive areas and is intended to ensure that development activities do not encroach upon designated buffer spaces.

Officials indicated that these measures are mandatory and form part of a broader regulatory framework aimed at managing the rapid pace of urban development in Cyberabad. The civic administration emphasised that compliance with safety and environmental norms would be closely monitored, with expectations of full cooperation from developers and real estate associations.

The directives reflect the administration's focus on integrating safety, environmental safeguards and regulatory discipline into the construction ecosystem, particularly in high-growth urban zones driven by commercial and residential expansion.
