Synopsis

Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has expanded its presence in Gujarat with the opening of a 93-key Gateway Kandla in Gandhidham, catering to business and leisure demand linked to port-led economic activity. Separately, IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a management agreement with NCPL to develop a 100-key Holiday Inn in Panaji, Goa, scheduled for completion in the early part of the next decade. The developments reflect continued investment in India's hospitality sector across industrial and leisure-driven locations, with operators targeting growing demand from trade-linked travel and tourism markets.

Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) announced in recent days the opening of a 93-key Gateway Kandla hotel in Gandhidham, Gujarat, as it expands its footprint in locations driven by trade and industrial activity. The property, operating under its Gateway Hotels & Resorts brand, is positioned to cater to both business and leisure travellers visiting the region.

Located near the Kandla port, Gandhidham functions as a key urban centre supporting maritime trade and regional commerce in Gujarat. According to company officials, the hotel is expected to serve demand generated by port operations, logistics, and associated industries, while also addressing leisure travel requirements in the region. Leah Tata indicated that the location's proximity to trade hubs and the broader growth of Gujarat's hospitality sector supports the positioning of the new property.

In a separate development, IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with NCPL for the development of a 100-key Holiday Inn hotel in Panaji, Goa. The project is scheduled to be completed in the early part of the next decade and will be operated under the Holiday Inn brand, which caters to a mix of business and leisure segments.

The upcoming hotel will be located in Panaji, a key administrative and tourism centre in Goa, known for its steady inflow of domestic and international visitors. The development is expected to benefit from the city's established hospitality market, driven by both leisure tourism and corporate travel.

Sudeep Jain stated that the property's location and brand positioning are expected to attract a diverse mix of travellers, reflecting demand patterns in Goa's hospitality sector.

The announcements highlight continued activity in India's hospitality real estate segment, with operators expanding portfolios across both industrial corridors and established tourism markets. Developments in port-linked cities such as Gandhidham indicate a focus on business travel demand, while projects in destinations such as Goa continue to target leisure-driven occupancy.

These additions form part of broader expansion strategies by hospitality operators seeking to strengthen their presence across high-demand micro-markets, supported by improving travel activity and infrastructure growth in key regions.
