The Gujarat government has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan-based Allegiance International Co Ltd to establish an Indo-Taiwan Industrial Park in the Sanand-Dholera region. The proposed development is expected to attract over INR 1,000 crore in foreign direct investment, primarily in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. The project is estimated to generate around 12,000 direct jobs over five years and will support India's semiconductor ambitions. The agreement, signed in Gandhinagar, aims to facilitate collaboration between Indian and Taiwanese enterprises while strengthening Gujarat's position as a manufacturing hub, where projects worth over INR 1.24 lakh crore are already under development.
The Government of Gujarat has signed a memorandum of understanding with Allegiance International Co Ltd to develop an Indo-Taiwan Industrial Park in the Sanand-Dholera region, with a focus on semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, as part of efforts to strengthen high-technology investments in the state.
The agreement was signed on Friday between the state's Department of Science and Technology and the Taiwanese firm in Gandhinagar, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The initiative is aimed at creating a dedicated industrial ecosystem to support collaboration between Indian and Taiwanese companies seeking to establish manufacturing operations in Gujarat.
The proposed industrial park is expected to attract foreign direct investment exceeding INR 1,000 crore, primarily from Taiwanese enterprises operating in semiconductor and electronics sectors. The development is also projected to generate approximately 12,000 direct employment opportunities over the next five years, according to the state government.
The project is being positioned within the broader Sanand-Dholera industrial corridor, which has been emerging as a key manufacturing zone due to its connectivity and proximity to planned infrastructure developments. The initiative is aligned with the Government of India's semiconductor push and is expected to support the development of supply chains across related industries.
Gujarat has been actively positioning itself as a preferred destination for semiconductor manufacturing, with projects worth over INR 1.24 lakh crore currently under development in the state. These include investments across fabrication, assembly, testing and ancillary segments, contributing to the creation of an integrated electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
The industrial park is expected to cater not only to semiconductor manufacturing but also to allied sectors such as electronics, electric vehicles, robotics and component supply chains. The collaboration is intended to facilitate technology transfer, strengthen industrial linkages and enhance the state's manufacturing capabilities.
The MoU was signed by Simon Lee, Chairman of Allegiance Group and Vice President of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in India, and P Bharathi, Secretary of the Gujarat Department of Science and Technology, in the presence of state Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia.
The agreement also reflects efforts to deepen economic ties between India and Taiwan, particularly in high-technology sectors. By providing a platform for Taiwanese companies to establish operations in Gujarat, the state aims to attract specialised manufacturing investments while supporting the growth of advanced industrial clusters in the region.
