Global digital infrastructure company Equinix has expanded its footprint in Mumbai with the launch of its fourth data centre in the city, developed with an initial investment of USD 95 million. The new facility adds more than 1,370 cabinets, increasing the company's capacity to support enterprises, hyperscalers, and network providers operating in India's largest data hub.
Mumbai has remained a key market for data centre operators due to its strong connectivity, financial ecosystem, and rising demand for cloud services. Equinix has been steadily expanding in India over the past few years, following its entry through the acquisition of GPX Global Systems. The addition of this facility is expected to further strengthen its presence and cater to the increasing need for secure and scalable digital infrastructure.
In a separate development, rubber chemicals manufacturer NOCIL has commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Dahej, Gujarat, built with an investment of INR 250 crore. The plant will produce Pilnox TDQ and TMQ, which are key chemicals used in the rubber industry. The company stated that the facility is expected to enhance its production capacity, with output catering to both domestic markets and exports. This expansion aligns with NOCIL's ongoing efforts to strengthen its supply chain and meet rising demand from tyre manufacturers and other industrial users.
Meanwhile, DBS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Singapore-based DBS Bank, has announced grants of up to INR 1.75 crore for three Indian enterprises. Ikure Techsoft, Lernern, and Kadam Haat Basketry have been selected for their work in areas such as healthcare delivery, inclusive employment, and caregiving support. The foundation indicated that the funding aims to help these organisations scale their impact-driven solutions and address social challenges more effectively.
