The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority has launched a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based survey to map villages in its jurisdiction and support planned development. A pilot phase covering five villages has begun, with a private consultant appointed to collect data from government departments, conduct field inspections, and document infrastructure through photographs. The survey will eventually cover 311 villages across multiple talukas. Authorities have stressed the importance of accurate data sharing from all departments to ensure effective planning. The initiative is part of broader efforts to support regional growth and infrastructure development.
The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority has initiated a GIS-based survey aimed at structured development of villages under its jurisdiction. The survey is designed to map existing infrastructure, identify gaps, and create a detailed database to guide future development projects and infrastructure allocation. This exercise includes capturing physical, social, and economic indicators, allowing authorities to plan more effectively and make data-driven decisions.
The pilot phase of the survey currently covers five villages: Mauje Sahajapur, Balapur, Shendra Jahangir, Kagjipura, and Farola. A private consulting agency has been appointed to carry out fieldwork, collect accurate data from government and semi-government departments, inspect sites, and document physical conditions with photographs. Officials have emphasized that the quality and accuracy of the data are essential for the success of the project.
The survey is expected to expand to cover approximately 311 villages across the talukas of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Phulambri, Gangapur, Paithan, and Khuldabad. Departments involved have been directed to provide updated and precise data to support the process and prevent any gaps in development planning. This coordinated effort aims to create a uniform foundation for implementing infrastructure projects across rural areas in a structured way.
The initiative coincides with increasing industrial and infrastructure activity in the region, especially near the Shendra-Bidkin industrial area, part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. The GIS survey will assist in balancing rural and urban growth, ensuring that villages are prepared for population and economic expansion while supporting industrial development.
Authorities noted that similar GIS mapping initiatives in other regions of Maharashtra have helped improve land assessment, planning transparency, and infrastructure delivery. By creating a comprehensive digital database, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority aims to streamline governance, reduce planning gaps, and facilitate more efficient infrastructure provision across villages.
