The Nashik Municipal Corporation has recorded its highest-ever property tax collection at INR 287 crore in the financial year 2025-26, reflecting a 10 percent increase over the previous year. The growth was supported by amnesty schemes, early payment rebates, and improved recovery of pending dues. Key divisions like Cidco and Panchavati contributed a major share. The civic body also expanded its tax base by adding new properties, helping improve overall compliance and strengthen revenue performance.
The Nashik Municipal Corporation has reported a total property tax collection of INR 287 crore for the financial year 2025-26, registering a 10 percent increase compared to INR 257 crore collected in the previous year. This is the highest collection achieved by the civic body so far and reflects a steady improvement in revenue performance.
Officials indicated that the rise in collection was supported by a combination of policy measures and enforcement efforts. These included the implementation of an amnesty scheme, incentives for early payment, and focused drives to recover long-pending dues. The administration noted that improved compliance from taxpayers also played a key role in achieving the record collection.
Among the six administrative divisions, Cidco recorded the highest collection at INR 59 crore, followed by Panchavati at INR 58 crore. Together, these two divisions contributed a significant share of the overall property tax revenue, indicating strong performance in these areas.
A major portion of the revenue came through an amnesty scheme introduced during the past year, which helped the civic body recover around INR 55 crore in pending dues. Based on the response, the scheme was reintroduced for a short period later in the financial year to target defaulters. During this phase, more than 13,000 property owners cleared their dues, contributing about INR 45 crore to the total collection. These efforts helped reduce arrears and improved overall recovery efficiency.
In addition, the civic body offered rebates to encourage timely payments. Property owners who paid their taxes in a single instalment in the early part of the financial year were given an 8 percent rebate, while those paying slightly later were offered a 6 percent rebate. This step helped improve early collections and ensured better cash flow for the corporation.
The growth in revenue was also supported by efforts to widen the tax base. During the year, several previously unassessed properties were identified and brought under the tax system. This pushed the total number of registered properties beyond six lakh, contributing to higher revenue and better coverage of taxable properties.
The civic body had already shown strong momentum in collections in recent years, having crossed earlier records before the end of the financial year. The latest figures continue this trend and highlight consistent administrative efforts to strengthen revenue through both compliance and expansion measures.
