The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a fire prevention and emergency response awareness drive at its office premises as part of the 55th National Safety Week. The initiative was organised to improve awareness about fire safety practices and emergency preparedness among employees and other stakeholders working within the authority.
The programme began with an awareness seminar held at the AV Seminar Hall on the first floor of the APCRDA office. The session focused on educating participants about preventive measures that can reduce the risk of fire incidents in workplaces. Officials explained emergency response procedures, the importance of maintaining safety standards in office environments, and the role of employees in responding effectively during emergencies. The discussion also highlighted the need for regular safety awareness programmes and training sessions to ensure preparedness in case of unexpected incidents.
Following the seminar, a practical fire-fighting drill was conducted at the ground floor parking area. During the demonstration, fire safety personnel showed participants how to use fire extinguishers correctly and explained different methods used to control and manage fire emergencies. The exercise allowed staff members to understand basic fire-fighting techniques and the immediate steps required during the early stages of a fire incident.
The programme took place in the presence of APCRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu. Several officials and specialists associated with safety management and project operations participated in the event. These included Divisional Fire Officer T. Srinivas Rao, N. Bhanu Prakash from ESMU, M. Kalyan Reddy and G. V. Prasanna Kumar from PMU, Labour Management Specialist B. Anitha Vani, Senior Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist G. Gopi Krishna, Junior OHS Specialists V. Pradeep, V. Hari Krishna, and U. Paul Sudhakar, along with Health Specialist P. Jyothi.
Support for the fire safety drill was provided by the team from the Mangalagiri Fire Station. The demonstration was led by Station Fire Officer Y. Venkateswarlu along with Leading Fire Men K. Koti Reddy and N. Sambasiva Rao, Fire Men D. Vijay Kumar and S. Appala Naidu, and Driver Operator P. Raghu. The team demonstrated practical steps for handling small fire incidents and explained how timely action and proper equipment can help prevent a fire from spreading.
Officials present at the event indicated that observing National Safety Week helps organisations reinforce the importance of workplace safety. They noted that awareness initiatives, training sessions, and coordinated emergency response practices play an important role in preventing accidents and protecting both lives and property.
In recent years, government offices and infrastructure agencies across India have increased their focus on safety awareness programmes, especially those related to fire prevention and occupational health standards. Such initiatives are aimed at ensuring that employees are familiar with emergency procedures and can respond quickly during unforeseen situations.
