The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) organized a voluntary blood donation drive at its office premises in Amaravati as part of the 55th National Safety Week observances. The initiative was conducted to encourage voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the importance of community participation in lifesaving healthcare efforts.
APCRDA Commissioner K. Kannababu inaugurated the blood donation camp. During the programme, he highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and encouraged employees and participants to support such humanitarian activities. He noted that participation in initiatives like blood donation helps strengthen community health systems and reflects a responsible approach toward social welfare.
The camp was organized with the support of the Indian Red Cross Society. The event was attended by Red Cross Vice-Chairman V. Joshi, who joined the programme and supported the initiative aimed at increasing voluntary blood donation.
Medical supervision for the camp was handled by Dr. S. Madhan Mohan, who coordinated the medical team and ensured that the blood collection process was conducted safely. Proper screening and monitoring procedures were followed to maintain donor safety and ensure the quality of collected blood.
The programme was coordinated by the Environment and Social Management Unit (ESMU) of APCRDA. Key officials involved in organizing the drive included Labour Management Specialist Anitha Vani Bhupathi and P. Jyothi from the Health Department. Members of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team V. Hari Krishna, U. Paul Sudhakar, V. Pradeep, M. Aaron Paul, and Senior OHS Specialist G. Gopi Krishna also coordinated the arrangements and supported the smooth conduct of the event.
Officers and staff members of APCRDA actively took part in the blood donation drive and voluntarily donated blood during the camp. Their participation reflected the organisation's effort to combine workplace safety awareness with social responsibility initiatives during National Safety Week.
National Safety Week is observed across India every year to promote awareness about safety practices in workplaces and communities. Along with safety awareness programmes, many institutions organize public welfare initiatives such as health camps and blood donation drives to support local healthcare needs.
